Action Figures & Their Beers -- Viking's delight!

The evening before the 2026 PSWCS Summer Social, I arrived with my buddy to Emmaus, PA to help with some prep work. We got there a bit earlier than the host was ready for, so we decided to stop in a random beer store named Shangy's. Little did we know we'd be walking into the Mecca of Beer.

This unimposing strip-mall looking place was incredible. Over 4,000 beers available, 40 on-tap for tasting, and a 100-foot wide wall dedicated exclusively to imports from every country you could imagine. That's where I found today's featured beer:

I had never had a beer from Iceland before. How could I pass up a beer from Iceland? There were six different varieties available, and my first choice was my all-time favorite beer style - a doppelbock.

As the Einstok website describes it: Holiday celebrations just got better with our limited-edition Icelandic Doppelbock. Rich in both taste and aroma, our winter seasonal brew perfectly combines malted barley and chocolate tones for a mellow whisky finish that pairs well with all your holiday fare. The sweet caramel notes give our Doppelbock a smooth full-body, leaving you warm and satisfied on a cold winter's night.

I'm not nearly as good as Beedo in describing how things taste, but I'll do my best to tell you this beer was tremendous. I found it to be rich, smooth, full-bodied, and mildly boozy. It was absolutely everything I love about doppelbocks. Pure joy. If all the beer of Iceland is this good, I may need to move there.

As this is a Christmas beer with the mascot on the can sporting antlers, I decided to pair it with our favorite horny Cantina patron: Feltipern Trevagg. Who is obviously named Feltipern Trevagg because Star Wars authors love gargling marbles when they make up their character names. FT is a Gotal which translates to alien with goat features, I assume. But he drinks in the Cantina and I don't have any other Star Wars action figures with bigger antlers, so here we are.

Drink this if you've ever even once in your life enjoyed: a doppelbock.
