FULL NELSON MAORI PALE ALE
Welsh brewery Tiny Rebel doesn’t put a lot of info and backstory on their labels. I’ve found a couple of their offerings at Marks & Spencers lately, and this is one of them. So this Full Nelson Maori Pale Ale doesn’t get an explanation as to WHY it’s called that, necessitating a trip to their website to check out their data-rich pages for each beer. And on Full Nelson’s own page, you get a link to its New Zealand origins, hence Maori. Hence today’s pairing: Black Series 6” Jango Fett. I should not have to explain this one any further. But holy crap . . . a Star Wars figure back in AF&TB?! A red-letter day, indeed!
Yes, this is a sour IPA, and not really my bag. But I’d bet my sword collection that a lot of IPA fans would go nuts for this. As the beer’s own page says, it does kind of have a white wine note to the flavour and aftertaste. And it somehow works. Not for me, particularly, but in general.
Having perused Tiny Rebel’s extensive site, I must say I wish I could find all of their beers and sample them, since they seem to be innovative and doing well in competitions. But if I could do that, I wouldn’t be able to afford my upcoming wedding. Or petrol. Or food. Because there are buttloads of them. Literally buttloads. (A butt is a large cask that can hold 108 Imperial gallons, or 126 Murrkin gallons, equivalent to 4 barrels or 2 hogsheads. It’s a LOT of beer, is what I’m getting at.)
Drink this if you also like: Grapefruit IPAs, other sour & fruity IPAs, Head Hunter.
