Star Wars with the White Sox

My friend Geoff and I went to see the White Sox play over Labor Day weekend because Sunday's game was Star Wars Day and if you bought a special ticket (which we did), it included a special bobblehead of Tim Anderson in Mandalorian armor.

It was an afternoon game with a 1:10 start and it was HOT! Our seats were along the first base line and right in the afternoon sun. Fortunately, the game was far from sold out and we were able to move back a couple of rows and into the shade for the majority of the game.

I wished the Sox were as hot as the weather was (we lost 3-2), but it was still a great time! The food options are Sooooooo much better than they are for Chicago's Northside team, plus there are a lot more vendors to buy from. I just don't understand why the sellers that came into the stands throughout the game only had beer and water, no soft drinks, lemonade, Gatorade, etc… Plus the only food you could get at your seat was Dippin Dots, if you wanted anything else, you had to get up and go stand in line at one of the stands in the concourse. But we each enjoyed footlong hotdogs prepared Chicago style (for those that don't know what that is, it's adorned with yellow mustard, green relish, chopped onions, a pickle spear, sport peppers, red tomato wedges, and a dash of celery salt.) No ketchup!

We took the train down and back, and after the game went to a Chinese buffet for dinner. Even though the home team lost (they're not doing so well to begin with). It was still a great day all around.
