Rogue Squadron delayed indefinitely

One of the first things I thought when I heard this was: "Could it be because Wonder Woman 2 didn't do well, and they (Lucasfilm/Disney) want to see if Patty Jenkins can redeem herself with WW 3, or perhaps the directorship of RS needs to fly off to someone else?"

I loved the original Wonder Woman film, the second one... not so much. The additional casting with Pedro Pascal & Kristen Wiig was great, but the story... ??? It was either overcooked, undercooked, left in the fridge to long before it was cooked, etc... And IF the 3rd installment doesn't do well, I can hear the SW fandom now: "Rogue Squadron was put on hold for this?????"

Per IMDB, Patty Jenkins has 17 directing credits to her name, of which I've seen 3: The 2 Wonder Woman films and Monster. The latter was a very well-made film about a very not-nice person. Charlize Theron did a phenomenal job in the lead role (heck, she won an Oscar for it!), but as for the film itself, the subject matter alone does not make it a "loveable" film. So, in all honesty, I'm really not the best person to be judging her body of work.

Now I have absolutely no issue whatsoever with a woman directing a Star Wars film, however I would like it to be someone who has already had some prior experience with the galaxy far, far away. I'm looking forward to the new Obi-Wan series, and what Deborah Chow has in store for us having enjoyed her directing 2 episodes of The Mandalorian. I also enjoyed what Bryce Dallas Howard did with the few episodes she directed. So, if either of these ladies were announced as directors of RS, I would already consider the project to be in good and capable hands. If they wanted to go with someone new, I'd like to see what Lexi Alexander could do with it, having absolutely loved what she did with Punisher: War Zone.

I have absolutely nothing whatsoever against Patty Jenkins, either as a person or a director, but I feel she has a lot riding on the potential success or failure of WW 3 as far as Star Wars fans are concerned. So, we had a "wait and see" attitude prior to all of this, and now the only thing that has changed is the wait has just gotten longer. Hopefully the eventual finished product will be worth the wait!

In the meantime, did you hear that in celebration of Disney+ day on Friday, certain AMC theaters will be showing a "mystery" Star Wars film this coming weekend? Guests will not know what film is screening until the show begins. I checked my local AMC theaters, and two of them near me will be taking part in this, with the showtimes being between 9:00 & 9:15 at night. Considering the theaters are listing the run times, fans are speculating the film shown will either be The Phantom Menace or Rogue One. Each screening will also feature a surprise short, and guests who attend will receive a free Disney+ poster & can purchase a "Cameo Combo" (whatever that is) for $5.00 + tax. Tickets for these screenings are $5.00 + tax. For more information including participating theaters, go to is not affiliated with Lucasfilm Ltd. or any of its licensees... damn them to hell.
