Well, the day was finally here! I went downtown to "Alleycat Comics" Sunday afternoon to finally get the chance to meet Dominic Pace in person! Along with him on the tour was his son, Benett, and it was genuinely nice to have the chance to meet him as well. The day did not start out so nice with thunderstorms, but by the time the con started at 2:00, the Force was with us, and the Chicago weather cooperated (for a change. Maybe it was trying to make up for the snow we got during SWC in April of last year). They had Mr. Pace outside under a canopy, and I was surprised that he had a lot of "Gekko" merch for sale that I DIDN'T have. Well, I knew I had to rectify that post haste and bought a couple of coins, a pin, a custom Lego figure, an 11x17 print, a coaster, and a couple of autographs for friends. I also had previously gotten a tattoo of "Gekko", and Mr. Pace was kind enough to sign that, then I went to my shop (Empire Tattoo in Itasca) Monday morning to have the signature permanently inked. So, thanks to Nick for doing the tattoo, and to Mark for making the signature a permanent part of my tattoo collection. Image Image

Dominic Pace was at Alleycat Comics from 2-5, and while there I got to meet and hang with (these are their Twitter handles) @rebelbasecard , @ScarifPodcast , @RoGazga , @WSTRmedia , @BehindBucket , @JtaPodcast , & @RFRRebelForce . Everyone seemed to have a great time and rightly so, it was an AWESOME DAY indeed! Mr. Pace signed autographs, posed for pictures, chatted with fans, & answered questions for a podcast. Image Image

When the time came for the con to end, Mr. Pace invited me to go out to dinner with himself, his son, and a few others. I was honored and accepted of course! We went to "Lo de Calo Pizzeria" and feasted on some of the best calamari I have ever had, along with mozzarella sticks, bread, and of course, deep dish pizza! We chatted and had a great evening. But as with all good things they must come to an end, and Dominic Pace and Benett had to get back to their hotel. We said our goodbyes, went our separate ways, and I got an Uber to take me home.

In a year such as this, where conventions are being postponed, theatrical movie releases are a thing from 2019, and there is much uncertainty about a great many things, this event was so welcome on so many levels. So, a huge "THANK YOU" goes out to Mr. Dominic Pace from making Chicago one of the stops on this tour and gracing us with his presence. Thanks also to @RoGazga, @Scarifpodcast, and the entire "Red 5" network for putting this together. Of course, I would be remiss in not thanking "Alleycat Comics" for hosting this event. I wish Mr. Pace and Benett good weather, continued health, safety, and prosperity for the remainder of the tour. May they continue to make happy memories to last a lifetime, and May the Force be with them always! Image
