Friday afternoon, after reaching a level of contentment with the final art for my R5-D4, I printed them out. 30 sheets each. Front and back.

The next task at hand was mounting them to comic book backers. As with my previous customs, I used acid-free permanent craft bond Elmer's glue sticks. I glue the backs on, trim them to size, then glue the fronts on. The fronts have a small bleed so I don't need to line them up perfectly. Thought it's like 1/32 of an inch top and bottom, so I do need to be darn near perfect.

To make sure there are no bubbles or creases after I glue them on, I press against the cards with the side of my hand, rubbing back and forth. Center to edge, then up and down the edges. Don't want the things to come apart. Well... you know how they say an artist pours their blood, sweat and tears into they work? As I was rubbing one of the cards, I felt a mild sting on my hand. Brief. Barely noticeable. I looked at it and didn't see anything. One of the next few cards I noticed I got some glue on the front. So I grabbed a tissue to rub it vigorously to try to get the glue off before it dried. And all of a sudden these dark streaks started showing up. I figured it must have been toner than got stuck in the glue or something... until I realized it was actually my blood!

I looked again at my hand and it was bleeding. Not a lot, but enough to ruin this card. I took a photo of my hand after I cleaned it up... I don't like posting gory things, but here the blood's all gone and you can just see where the cut was.

Other than that one incident, cardback production went smoothly. I did half the work Saturday and the other half Sunday.

Now they're ready for the figures and bubbles. That being the case, I expect these to go on sale NEXT WEDNESDAY! Check back on Monday for confirmation and details!
