No good deed goes unpunished...

So last week, after upgrading my ESB41A C-3PO at ToyPAlooza for a cheap price, I decided I would pay it forward, offering my original for the exact same price I paid. Very quickly I received an email and PM from a guy in the UK who said he'd buy it. And I thought, "Yay, this worked out great! I'm hooking this guy up with a fantastic price on a nice unpunched MOC, and I'll get back the $150 I paid for my upgrade." On top of that, he offered to buy the open cardbacks as well. Everything was awesome.

Then the trouble began...

Buyer: Ok mate, would it be possible to do both the cardbacks and c3po for 170 shipped to UK?
Me: No. Shipping's going to run $25 to the UK. I'm just trying to break even on the 3PO. So $195 for the lot.

Buyer: Ok, do you get stuff up for sale regularly? I would like the 3po and cardbacks as 195 seems fair but was wondering if I paid and then held out until you got more stuff available for sale. As I usually buy in bulk if I'm buying from the US.
Me: Not really, no. Only when I upgrade something or buy a collection.

Buyer: Trying to complete my mint loose run at the moment, not got anything you could help me out on that with have you? I will take them at 195 as well please mate.
Me: I have a handful of loosies in a box, but none of them particularly mint.

Buyer: Ok would any chance I can see what you have? I will get payment across to you in the next few hours if that's cool? Just at work at the moment.
Me: I can send photos when I get home from work. Image

Buyer: Could you throw Greedo in for $200 total
Me: I'd prefer not to. I could throw that up on eBay today and get $20 for it.

24 Hours Pass

Me: So $195 for the MOC and cardbacks. PayPal is:
Buyer: Something has come up financially so the cash I had for these has gone on bills. Sorry to let you down.

So this guy, after trying time and again to chip away at my asking price that was ALREADY SIGNIFICANTLY BELOW MARKET BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO PAY IT FORWARD decides to bail on the purchase because I wouldn't give him a discount. Cuz you know if I'd have thrown in that Greedo I'd have received his payment immediately. It's absolutely aggravating.

I've learned my lesson. The ESB41A 3PO and cardbacks are now posted on eBay:

I understand the mentality. I ask for "best prices" when I buy stuff all the time. But when you repeatedly agree to pay $195 for something, call it a fair price, and then flake when you can't get a sweetener... that's just poor form. is not affiliated with Lucasfilm Ltd. or any of its licensees... damn them to hell. Can't they see a golden opportunity when they see it? Buy us, you fools! You already own our souls and all our money... buy US!!! This site uses Google Analytics.
