Having never been to the D23 Expo, and this event being held only once every 2 years, I was very excited to see what it had in store for us. My friend Barry was interested as well, so he went along with me. You had to activate your badge(s) online like with SWC, and D23 implemented a new system this year, where people could go online starting on a certain date at a certain time and pre-register for panels, signings, and the stores, so they wouldn't have to get up extra early to wait in long lines just in the hopes of being able to get into whatever it was they were waiting for. That set date & time were Aug 16th at 2:00 pm CST. So I re-arranged my schedule to be home at that time in the hopes of getting a few of the things I wanted to see. Then, due to "last-minute site optimizations", reservations would now be launching at 3:00 pm CST. THEN "they identified an issue with their online reservation system's ability to identify one of their badge types, and to ensure a seamless process for all of the guests, pushed the launch until 2:00 CST on Sat, Aug 17th". Now I'm a D23 Gold member, but they didn't start the reservation process early for us, no sir! At 2:00 on that Sat everyone who had any sort of badge (Sorcerer, 3-Day, or single day) was able to ATTEMPT to get in and TRY to get what they wanted.

So for Friday, I was able to get into the Asher Angel Signing, "The Music & Sounds of Star Wars Galaxy's Edge" panel, the "Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series - Episode II First Look" panel, and the 4:00 giveaway of the Pixar ball. The "Disney+" panel was already booked up.

For Saturday, I was able to get into The Haunted Mansion 50th Anniversary panel, & Ken Anderson's Haunted Mansion panel. The Marvel talent signing was all booked up.

For Sunday, I was able to get into the "Inspiring Women Behind Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" panel, and also was able to secure a reservation to get into the Disney Dreamstore at 4:15. We tried other dates/times, & also with the two other stores there (Disney store & Mickey's of Glendale), but this was all we were able to get. The signing with Keegan-Michael Key was booked.

Never before at any con did I have to do what I did at this one, and that was have my badge scanned as I was entering, AND also as I was leaving. If I didn't scan it upon exiting, I ran the risk of not being able to get back in the next time/next day.

We stayed at the Anaheim Hilton, we could look out our window and see the front of the convention center, so it was nice and close.

We flew into Ca. early on Thu afternoon, got to our hotel, and spent the day relaxing and preparing for what was to be a busy weekend and following week.
