Toy Fair 2019 held as always in the great city of New York, New York proved to be quite a nice time for your intrepid reporter. After choosing to miss out on last years festivities, I was gently reminded how nice New York can be and how much walking the Halls Toy Fair with good friends can be. Image

With the Episode IX & Mandolorian Embargoes in full effect, new Star Wars merchandise was a little hard to find on the showroom floor. Nonetheless, was able to compile a Toy Fair 2019 Top 10 Star Wars List:

#1: Hasbro's Retro Collection
There is no doubt that Hasbro's reveal of a line new figures based on Kenner's much-beloved and iconic Vintage figures from the 70's & 80's was THE talk of the Star Wars collecting universe during Toy Fair. There is good & bad with this line, but I believe the good firmly out weighs the bad. Hate it or love it, so-called vintage exploitation is here to stay as long as there is money to be paid, and judging by the fact the pre-orders for these figures sold-out on before the end of Saturday, I'd say the demand is there. And at a very attractive price point of $9.99, these figures may prove very hard to find on the shelf. Not to mention Hasbro is going to offer characters that weren't originally released by Kenner, like Tarkin and Hasbro went the extra step of distressing the card backs to give the new figures an aged look... Hasbro's Retro Collection takes the top spot on this countdown. Image

#2: NECA's Chewbacca Chia Pet.
Chewbacca Chia Pet... do I need to say anymore? I dare any one of you to deny how awesome this product is. I'm simply flabbergasted that it took this long to get us this perfect match up of Chia and Wookiee. I eagerly await it's release Image

#3: Hasbro The Vintage Collection Desert Skiff
Again a very well priced offering from Hasbro that was sold-out on the initial batch of pre-orders. It should be no surprised, that with the upcoming Sail Barge release, Hasbro's Vintage Collection is very focus on Jabba's Palace characters and vehicles. And kudos to Hasbro for not just re-releasing a nice, but older mold and deciding to give us an updated and enlarged Skiff that will pair very nicely with the Sail Barge for a full Battle of the Carkoon Pit diorama. #4: LEGO's Action Battle Echo Base Defense
LEGO is upping the ante this year and working to remind boys and girls of all ages that LEGO sets are toys to be played with and not static model kits. Their new Action Battle sets feature missile-launching batteries and target points to aim for. Hit the targets and watch your LEGO sets "explode" and your mini-figures sent flying. Here's hoping LEGO expands this beyond the first 2 plan sets. Image

#5: Metal Earth's ICONX Line
Fascinations line of Meat Earth models keeps on getting better and better every year. Their new ICONX line of larger models produced in color are pure and simply amazing. The Falcon in it's Solo: A Star Wars Story particularly jumped out to me. On a side note, the folks at Metal Earth could not be a nicer, friendlier group of people. I highly encourage all 20 readers of to purchase and shop their wares. Image

#6: Lego's 20th Anniversary Mini-Figs
Twenty Years is a eternity in some circles, so it's nice to see Lego recognize and celebrate their two decades of putting out pure awesomeness in brick form. Granted it would have been super-nice to purchase these mini-figs individually, having them boxed with new builds of some classic Lego Star Wars builds is nice nod to the past and a chance for new collector's to get their hands on some classic sets. #7: New Zealand Mint
Somethings can only be appreciated in person. New Zealand Mints full line of Star Wars silver currency is one of those things. I'd seen these advertised and featured online, but did not appreciate their level of beauty and attention to detail. With new offerings of Movie Posters and classic Marvel Star Wars covers are very nice, but the bread and butter of these releases are the coins. Image

#8: Seven 20's Chewbacca BBQ Tool Pouch

#9: Hot Wheel's Jar-Jar Binks Character Car
With 2019 being the 20th Anniversary of Episode 1, we may see a nice resurgence of Gungan love and an older, more mature Star Wars fan-base may realize that Jar- Jar is not that bad. I for one feel Jar-Jar gets too bad of a wrap and Mattel definitely laid out the love for the Senator from Naboo with this Hot Wheel. Image

#10: Gentle Giant 1/6th Scale Statue Line
Any fears you may have had can be firmly laid to rest, Gentle Giant could not be in better and more caring hands than Diamond Select. It was nice to see them release sneak peeks of products Gentle Giant had in the pipe-line before the purchase. The BB-8 & Chewbacca statues are aesthetically stunning and fully showcase the breath of talent and artistry that Diamond Select got with their purchase of Gentle Giant. I can't wait to see what they have to offer at Celebration. Image Image is not affiliated with Lucasfilm Ltd. or any of its licensees... damn them to hell.
