Doing the unthinkable

August is going to be a very busy month, we have CVI towards the end of it, but first we have WizardWorld Chicago, which is next weekend. Now when CV was going on, I passed entirely on WW due to the fact I left all my money in the Orlando Convention Center, but this time WW Chicago preempts Celebration by two weeks. Now normally I'd forgo the con here to attend the con in Florida, but Laura Vandervoort is coming to WW Chicago! I know my great boss, Bill Cable, got me her auto at DragonCon last year, but when you buy the WW Chicago Laura Vandervoort VIP pass, you get your picture taken with her, two autographs, a cool lithograph, a special badge, entrance the the show all 4 days  all for the low price of $199.99. It's really not a bad deal considering if you were to buy individual badges each day at the door, which would run you a total of $180.00. Add to that the photo op with Miss V is $50.00 and an autograph is $30. So I'm actually saving $60.00, (and losing $135.00 because I'm only going to the con on Sunday). But I get to meet her face to beautiful face, and that's the main thing. Sweeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!

Add to that I haven't been to the comic shop in @ 2 months to pick up my stash, the normal bills that come every month, food, gas, and that the CVI artwork goes on sale online today, I sure don't want to wait until I get to Orlando only to find out the few prints I wanted are already sold out. So with all the expenditures coming up, I needed to liquidate some assets for $$$, and the things that I could get top dollar for are, what else...my Star Wars collection.

Now before anyone has a stroke, heart attack, or wants me checked into an asylum other than the one I'm already working in, let me say I'm only parting with a few pieces, 8 to be exact. Mostly stuff I've bought from Sideshow. Now don't get me wrong, they put out a great product, it's just that their timing sucks. They released all of my last orders immediately after CV when I had absolutely no money, just canceled my orders without trying to work with me, and on top of all that, charged me a penalty! So nuts to them, who needs their stuff anyway! I didn't get rid of everything of theirs; I still have 5 SW items, plus some “Indiana Jones” and “Saw” stuff.

What I got rid of was “the Premium Format General Grievous, Premium Format Boba Fett, Ilum Padme, Mace Windu, Darth Vader: Sith Apprentice, and Darth Maul figures, and the Probe Droid Expansion pack. All but Grievous and Padme were the Sideshow exclusives. In addition to those, I gave up my Entertainment Earth exclusive Darth Vader “Anakin Reveal” bust, so I'm getting a nice chunk of change for all of them and shipped them off yesterday. The space they occupied in my closet has already been filled with other SW items that before this had no good place to stay. I can use the money I made on more meaningful things like SW autographs, Carbon Freeze Me, and CVI exclusive swag. So their sacrifice will not be in vain. It was either that or be in debt the rest of the year. The Force will be with all of them, I know. I just hope they survive the trip and don't get banged around too much. I kept them in great shape and want them to arrive at their destination the same way. They deserve that much.

22 days to go!
