Star Wars Celebration (Sun)

It's the final day of Star Wars Celebration 2017, a lot to get done, and as the con was ending at 5:00 instead of 7, two less hours to get it all done in. Autographs for today were: Sam Witwer, Tiya Sircar, Steve Blum, Vanessa Marshall, & Taylor Gray. Photo-ops consisted of Anthony Daniels, Sam Witwer, and the Rebel pilots trio, but first, the Funko booth!

I didn't actually win the lottery, but some guy who did was selling the winning tickets on eBay and I won the Sunday 10:15 slot, the first slot of the day. When he sent me my ticket, it had my name on it, and when I presented it to the people running the booth, they took it without question or problem. I got Rey on speeder bike, Thrawn, holographic Qui-Gon, Garindan, Chopper, the prototype Boba Fett bobble head, and one of the Greedo two packs. Seven less items I'd have to pay secondary market prices for.

Then it was off to the Anthony Daniels photo-op, after that, it was time to start getting autographs. I thought with it being the last day of the convention and Easter Sunday to boot, the lines would be significantly lighter. Well, I was wrong. Today only, to even get into the autograph section one had to show their ticket(s) to the volunteers before they would allow you entry. I first got in line for Steve Blums autograph, then got Vanessa Marshalls, went to Taylor Gray's line as it didn't seem too long, but then one of the volunteers yelled at me because his line had been cut off and the end of it was actually in another section of the area, so acquiring his signature took longer than planned. While I was waiting, I had Barry go and find out what time the Rebel pilots photo-op was scheduled for as I didn't see it posted on the monitors. It turns out they had the photo-op on their schedule, and were selling tickets for it, but never actually scheduled it with the three pilots, so it wasn't to be, and he got my money back for me.

We got the photo-op w/Sam Witwer out of the way, then got in line for his autograph. The line for the Celebration store was still long enough to be out of the question, so I asked one of the volunteers there how I was supposed to obtain the SWC Program I had pre-ordered, they told me those were being handed out back where people picked up their badges, all the way on the other side of the convention floor from where I was, so I walked, aching feet and all, all the way back there to get it, then walked all the way back to the autograph section. Sam's line was looooooong, and moved soooooooo slowly. He was being very personable and friendly with each of the guests in line, but that didn't work well for me considering I still had one more autograph to get after his. Tiya was scheduled to be at her booth from 4-5 pm, and her line was long too. Unfortunately, Tiya and Sam were going to be signing the same item, and Barry was actually getting Sam Witwer's autograph also, but he was having his "Walking Dead" poster signed. (For those of you who don't know, Sam played the zombie in the tank with Rick back from the 1st episode of the 1st season.) 4:00 came, then 4:15, then 4:30. Tiya's line kept getting shorter and shorter, but at the same time I kept getting closer and closer to the front of Sam's line. The guy in front of me took pity on me and let me go ahead of him as we saw they were starting to take Tiya's banner down and I was really getting nervous I was going to miss her completely. After finally getting Sam to sign my figure, I ran as fast as my sore feet would allow toward and down Sabine's line. I saw her stand up and turn as if she were leaving, I yelled as loud as I could; "WAIT! ONE MORE!!" but neither she nor any of the volunteers paid me any mind as the all disappeared behind the curtain…at 4:45 pm promptly, fifteen minutes before she was scheduled to leave.

Now I was off to get a refund for her ticket, and as there were only two people working Topps customer service section (technically there were three, but one of them was only dealing with tickets people paid cash for, and since I bought this one online w/my credit card…) it took a while. The gentleman behind me was there for the same reason I was, and none too happy about it, or the way Topps ran things their first year out. I had no problem getting my $$$ back, but by the time I was done, it was already past 5:00, so as we began the long walk out of the convention center, we watched as lights were turned off, displays were taken down, merchandise was boxed up, and the long metal poles used to create the lines in the pre-opening holding area were being dismantled. Truly a very sad sight.

As everyone was leaving at the same time, we had to wait a bit for a shuttle to take us back to our hotel, then we relaxed for a few minutes before we headed off down the street to Cooper's Hawk to have a nice Easter dinner. Then it was back to the room to begin packing and for me to try and figure out how to get everything I picked up the past four days into one suitcase and two carry-ons. is not affiliated with Lucasfilm Ltd. or any of its licensees... damn them to hell.
