Star Wars Celebration (Fri)

Didn’t get up quite as early today as I no longer needed to get into the special line to get the Hasbro Exclusive figure. So this am we actually took time to have breakfast at "Gatorville". A nice buffet featuring juice, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, cereal, etc… Once we got to the convention center and got off the shuttle, there was no waiting outside this morning, and they had more metal detectors inside in operation today. So we got into the holding area relatively quickly.

Once there though, it was a madhouse. Once again we walked past all of those who camped overnight, this time for "The Last Jedi" panel (heard Rian Johnson made an overnight appearance and stayed for @ 3 hours meeting fans and signing autographs, lucky %$*@!) and looked for the end of the line to get onto the show floor, but with people in line for food, drinks, the bathrooms, etc… we couldn’t tell where one line ended and the next began, so we asked one of the volunteers in the orange shirts, their response was simply "I’m not sure where the end of the line is and I’m not going to help you find it either." Eventually we found it on our own, but it was in another section of the room, separated from the first section by a huge wall. We knew that the other group would of course be getting in first as they had been here longer, so when 10:00 rolled around and we didn’t move, we didn’t think too much about it. Our first photo-op was at 10:45, so we had time. 10:15 rolled around, no movement. 10:30 came and went, still nothing. 10:45 arrived and we were still in the exact same spot we’d always been. Many people voiced their queries as to what the hold-up was, but there were hardly and volunteers around to ask, and those that we did see at a distance paid us no mind. At 10:50, I’m not sure if someone let us in, or the person in the front of the line lost the last of their patience and simply started moving, but either way we were going in. We moved as fast as the crowd would let us, and Barry started heading down the main aisle, which I knew was a bad idea considering the crowd trying to watch the "Star Wars Show" stage were taking up most of the aisle in that area and blocking everyone from getting through. So I ducked down a side aisle and hustled past all the toy vendors to get back to the photo-op area. The line for our photo-op (Riz Ahmed) was already going in when I got there, but then realized Barry wasn’t anywhere to be seen, and he had the ticket! So I’m texting him to get a move on before it was too late, fortunately he wasn’t THAT far behind and we got our picture taken with Bodhi Rook, no sweat.

Besides Riz, today’s photo-ops included a combo with Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar., a combo w/ Hayden Christensen and Ian McDiarmid, and one with Forest Whitaker. Autographs today were Riz Ahmed, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Forest Whitaker, and Alan Tudyk, so again I’d be spending the bulk of my time today in the back. With the size of the lines and the timing for everyone’s photo-op schedules, I knew I wouldn’t be able to get all of the signatures myself, so Barry got SMG and FPJ’s autograph while I waited in line for Riz Ahmed, then moved to Alan Tudyk’s line. Once Barry was done with the "Rebels" duo, he came over and took my place in A.T.’s line whilst I got in line for Forest Whitaker, then jumped back to my spot for Alan Tudyk. So at the end of the day, all photo-ops and autographs scheduled for that day were accomplished!

We left the con, went back to our hotel room and relaxed for a bit before heading out to Star Wars Galactic Nights at Disney’s Hollywood studios. This time around, they didn’t have buses to take us back and forth and we had to call an Uber to take us over. We went through the Star Wars Launch Bay, rode the Tower of Terror and Star Tours, got something to eat at one of the many places to eat in the park, participated in the scavenger hunt, and watched the closing fireworks show. Then exited the park and joined the throngs of people who were already waiting outside or cabs, Ubers, Lyfts, etc… for pick-ups back to the various hotels.
