Look out and shout! Yow! I've been stockpiling a few reviews for a special occasion, and I figure a nice holiday weekend is a good time to release them. Enjoy!

With a name like First Call, the obvious connection would be to find a communications officer character. For one reason or another, I only seem to have four that I know of. I’ve already used lots of different iterations of Soundwave already. I can’t remember where the Hells that Echo Base officer with the headset, Toryn Farr, got to. The recent Tele-Viper figure from when G.I. Joe relaunched is deep in storage, with no hope of digging him out in less than a week. So that leaves Blaster, the Autobots’ comm officer. Who turns into an undersized boombox. (The Eighties were a magical time to be a kid, weren’t they?) And I threw in his li’l pals, Rewind, Eject, Ramhorn, and Steeljaw just because. These are all reissues, by the way. I’m still waiting for an official Masterpiece Blaster, Takara. Still waiting. In your own time. Or do you want my money to go to the third-party bunch? Image

The beer, coming from the well-loved Badger stables*, is a solid brew. Using only First Gold dwarf hops, it’s got a mildly spicy, orangey – almost mulled – tang to it without going into sour territory. It’s good and rich and malty overall, too, and would go well with meat pies, pasties, sandwiches, or roast dinners. Damn. Now I want a meat pie.

* Nowthere’s an image for ya. Who would keep badgers in stables? Who would ride the badgers? Pine martens? Skunks? Woodchucks? Man, my brain goes to weird places, sometimes. I should get more sleep.

Drink this if you also like: Rich brown ales, zesty-hopped ales. is not affiliated with Lucasfilm Ltd. or any of its licensees... damn them to hell.
